At Heartland Regional Medical Center we have developed a wide range of cardiovascular services for the prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation of cardiac problems. Our skilled team of cardiologists, nurses, cardiopulmonary technicians and rehab therapists, radiologists, and diagnostic imaging technicians working together bring the expertise necessary to quickly examine, diagnose, and start you on a treatment schedule.
Cardiology services are supported in many different areas of the hospital. Our 24-hour Emergency Services are able to handle a range of heart-related problems. Our emergency room is equipped with advanced technology for cardiac diagnosis, evaluation and monitoring.
Diagnostic Imaging also plays a key role in the early detection and diagnosis of cardiac conditions. At Heartland Regional Medical Center we have advanced technology that includes multi-slice high-speed CT Imaging, Ultra Sound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Angiography, and Nuclear Imaging. Heartland Regional Medical Center has taken a major step forward in providing advanced cardiology services to Southern Illinois. We have a veteran team that has performed over 20,000 cases who assist our skilled group of cardiologists. The high level of experience and knowledge the cath team brings to HRMC gives our patients the best care possible in this field.
Cardiac Rehab
Cardiac Rehab at Heartland Regional Medical Center is designed for all people who have had a heart attack, open-heart surgery, or who are at risk for developing heart disease. Heart problems do not have to end your life or active lifestyle. We are here to help you understand what has happened to your heart, and help you take positive steps toward your recovery. Our program concentrates on rebuilding the strength and endurance of the heart muscle. Exercising in a well monitored environment and education are the focus of the program to get you back in shape to handle your daily routine. Cardiac Rehab Phases I and II are conducted on the hospital campus. Phase III is conducted at Marion Rehab and Fitness Center located in the Illinois Centre Mall in the Sears wing.

Advanced Cardiovascular Procedures
Each year, over 900 open-heart surgeries, and countless other cardiac procedures must leave the area and even the state. Heartland Regional Medical Center began performing open heart surgery in July of 2003. Our cardiovascular team now performs these procedures.
